Santa Barbara Bicycle Coalition Trail Stop Project

The Santa Barbara Bicycle Coalition wanted a trail stop at the intersection of two Class 4 bicycle paths that would provide a shady place to pause along the trail.  Such a rest area was designed to be durable, low cost, and low maintenance.  Signage was incorporated to give trail users an appreciation for the habitat of the streams that flow next to the trails.

Working with the SBBC, the trail stop includes Santa Barbara specific landscape cues, including local sandstone boulders, native drought tolerant plantings, and sand-set permeable pavers.

There are horse hitching posts, bike racks, informational panels, trash can, and a shaded bench & table.
